With modern Web-based databases, tracking down a music dissertation is far easier than in the past. Among of these are three free Web sites, Indiana University's Doctoral Dissertations in Musicology-Online, Geoffrey Chew's Archive of Dissertation Abstracts in Music, and the Society for Music Theory's Dissertation Index from Music Theory Online.
