Federal auditors say the Evansville Housing Authority can't account for more than $769,000 that was supposed to have been spent on housing for very low-income people.
The beleaguered agency -- already operating with a $600,000 deficit -- has been ordered to come up with documentation for how the money was spent or pay it back to the federal government. In addition, federal auditors say two former EHA executive directors "circumvented" the agency's management controls by transferring money into accounts without the knowledge of EHA board members.See the full content of this document
