Summary
Since joining Shell International last October, the author has been able to put all his previous credit management experience to good use. Shell is similar to other businesses with many of the same issues; simply everything is bigger. As Global Credit Central Team Lead, his role is removed from the day-to-day cut and thrust of customer facing activities. One of the projects he is currently working on is the Quality in Credit Management Award from the Institute of Credit Management. This award is given for proven excellence in credit management, focusing on five key aspects to any credit function -- the credit policy, compliance, customer service, personal and professional development, and performance measurement.
