Davenport Is Big Ten's 2007 Top Woman Athlete

Summary


The senior center on the women's basketball team is just the second Buckeye to win the Big Ten's top female honor. Laura Davis, an Ohio State women's volleyball player, won the award in 1995, which began in 1983. On the men's side, Minnesota, wrestler Cole Konrad was named the league's 2007 Jesse Owens Athlete of the Year.

[Jessica Davenport] finished her women's basketball career in 2007 as the program's first three-time All-American. A repeat winner of Ohio Stated Women's Athlete of the Year in 2006 and '07, Davenport became the first player to be named Big Ten Player of the Year three times in a career. Davenport was also recently recognized by the Big Ten Conference as an Outstanding Sportsmanship Award winner.
