Summary
That peaceful seaside afternoon comes rushing back to me when I listen to the CD Vision, released last year under [Clinton Fearon]'s name, although the Boogie Brown Band is once again fully present on what is their fifth studio recording. Like when I saw him, Fearon's newer music is expertly arranged, giving the horn section free rein and mixing in nontraditional (to reggae) instruments such as flute and violin. And this time around, there are more signature Fearon bass lines. The bandleader was more focused on guitar playing when I saw him; on Vision he's returned more prominendy to bass. And the Boogie Brown Band has benefited by the addition of former Culture backup singer Ire' (pronounced E-ray) into the mix, too. (You can check out four of Clinton Fearon and the Boogie Brown Band's new tracks on their MySpace page at http://profile.niy8-pace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user viewpronle&friendID=158601854.)
