Summary
Meanwhile, Chuck Higgins has taken over Kakawa's space in the building they used to share, and added a nice little seating area. He's also in the process of changing the name of his business from Chuck's Nuts (which you know I always thought was hysterical) to CG Higgins Confections. "I'm switching because, as much fun as it was to have that name," Higgins says, (and just think of the "I Love Chuck's Nuts" T-shirts!) "it's too limiting." And anyway, Higgins adds, "Its not like I'm a big nut dealer." He believes the new name better reflects the variety of sweet treats that he offers, including fudge, brittle, caramel corn, brownies, ice cream and biscotti.
Another new item Higgins waxes ecstatic over: FX O'Reilly ice cream sundaes. FX O'Reilly is a Maryland-based microcreamery that produces tasty, pricey ice creams. "It's the most incredible stuff," Higgins gushes. "What makes it special is that they use cream that comes from Ireland. Why is this such a big deal, one inquires? The answer is that the cows in Ireland are always eating green grass and their cream is quite rich. It's expensive but imagine, if you will, putting that in a bowl with an old-fashioned chocolate brownie and drizzling homemade chocolate fudge sauce over the top." (Rowr! If that's not food porn, I don't know what is. Or am I the only one who'd be willing to pay 99 cents per minute just to hear someone describe that sundae over and over again?)See the full content of this document
