Cost to Reconnect Natural Gas Service Criticized

Summary


A proposed rule that would cap natural gas reconnection charges does not do enough to help low-income customers, a lawmaker and utility watchdog group said.

Current Indiana law allows gas companies to charge deposits up to four times the average monthly bill, but the state utility commission is considering a proposal that would drop that to two months for new customers.
