I know what I miss most about the Gulf Coast (aside from a large body of navigable water): long, straight, flat roadways.
I experienced this epiphany a couple weeks ago while driving a 26- foot Penske moving truck from Colorado Springs to California. Don't get me wrong, there's still enough 7-year-old redneck boy in me to enjoy the idea of driving around in a big, diesel-powered behemoth of a vehicle, it's simply not as much fun when you're worried about getting up or racing uncontrollably down mountains.
