A Vanderburgh County seventh-grader enjoyed a savory victory Saturday in the Evansville Courier & Press Tri-State Spelling Bee.

William Weitzel, a 12-year-old student at Evansville Day School, outlasted 29 other area students by correctly spelling "cilantro" -- the "leaves of coriander used as a flavoring or garnish."
