Not only was absenteeism a problem in January for many businesses but also sales. The author was horrified recently when asked by a friend to advise her on accrued credit card debts of L20,000. She had been asked to pay L1000 up front to a so called debt adviser. Naturally suspicious, the author checked with the ICM and needless to say it was yet another scam organization trying to con those who are least able to afford it. Always remember to recommend debtors to the Citizens Advice Bureau and Money Advice Centres where at least the advice they get will be free and honest without any up-front payments.
