Doudlah stressed in an interview that the use of switchgrass and other prairie grasses as the source of alternative fuels doesn't have to wait the estimated 10 years or more that it could take to make cellulosae ethanol viable in the marketplace. Recognizing the potential for biofuel pellets, the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection recently awarded Agrecol a $46,000 grant to help develop the renewable fuel industry of Dane, Rock and Green counties.
