Summary

"This budget plan will start to move Ohio in a new, posi-tive direction," said Ce-leste, D-Grandview Heights. "We are expanding access to health care for children, getting the cost of college tuition under control and de-livering real property tax relief. It's excit-ing."

[Ted Celeste] said the plan for senior citizen property tax relief is particularly important. The budget calls for expanding the homestead exemption and allowing the disabled and all homeowners age 65 years and over - re-gardless of income to pay no property tax on the first $25,000 of their home's market value.

"For years, too much of the burden of paying for schools has been placed on the proper-ty tax, and that has hurt our seniors," Celeste said. "This budget takes Ohio in a new, positive direction, and it means real tax relief for senior citizens."
