In cities patrolled by the Broward Sheriff's Office, crime rates, or the number of crimes per 1,000 residents, increased about 4.8 percent on average. Unincorporated Broward shot up 21 percent, Dania Beach rose by 12 percent, and Cooper City rose by almost 11 percent, with Lauderdale Lakes topping 12 percent, North Lauderdale more than 10 percent and Oakland Park with a 17 percent increase in crime rates.
