Several successful alumni of Hankamer's Economics department are profiled as they make their marks on their communities, states and the world. An Austin-based entrepreneur and private investor, Ben Davis starts and sells companies in various industries. In 1995, he co-founded LandTel Communications LLC, the market leader in satellite services for drilling platforms. Jennifer Elrod is currently judge of the 190th District Court in Houston's Harris County. Elrod has served as a state court judge since 2002 and has recently been nominated by Pres George W. Bush to serve on the US Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. Spencer Carlstone completed his family medicine residency program one year ago and began practicing as a physician for the Pella Regional Health Center in Pella, IA. Jessamyn F. Allen has worked since November 2006 as an import development manager for H-E-B in San Antonio, TX. Thomas A. Doyle is a partner in Baker & McKenzie's Chicago office and chair of that law firm's North American Litigation Practice.
