Summary


"It's sort of like when voting for the first George Bush meant extending the Reagan presidency," [David Johnson] told the newspaper. "[Bill Clinton] is transferring his mantle onto her. And African-American voters are responding."

He wasn't the most prominent voice during the recent outrages over Hurricane Katrina and the Jena Six, prompting the Rev. Jesse Jackson to accuse him of "acting like he's white," according to news reports. Jackson later said he did not recall making that statement, and reaffirmed his support for [Barack Obama].

[Joy-Ann Reid] said in her Oct. 5 Broward limes column, "Barack Obama isn't running for president of black America - he's running for president of the whole country."
