"The sale of these few branches in the Adirondack region is a strategic business-line decision to realign our distribution network," Dana Drago, vice chairman for retail and business banking at Citizens, said in the statement. Citizens Bank plans to open 16 new in-store branches in Stop & Shop supermarkets in New York in 2008 and 41 in 2009, principally in the lower Hudson Valley, Rockland and Westchester counties, and on Long Island.
