Asjmc Business Meeting 6 August 2004 the Sheraton Centre Toronto, Canado

ASJMC President John Soloski of the University of Georgia called the meeting to order at 3:25 p.m. He thanked the members for attending the Toronto convention.

Motion: To approve the minutes of the 2003 ASJMC Business Meeting, as published in the Winter 2004 issue of Journalism & Mass Communication Educator.

Seconded by: Pam Creedon, Iowa

Motion passed unanimously

Soloski began the meeting with a moment of silence for deceased members. He provided a special tribute in memory of Hal Shaver of Marshall University.

Soloski reported that much of his year as president focused on the ASJMC Bylaws revision as well as working on requests for access to the data from ASJMC's annual salary survey. The group will consider these items later in the meeting.

The membership was surveyed in order to create a strategic plan for the association. ASJMC contracted with Lee Becker to conduct the survey. A preliminary report was issued yesterday, ...
