Amanda 'Kaye' Wolgemuth

Summary


Amanda Catherine Kraybill (Kaye) Wolgemuth, of Mount Joy, died on Monday, October 25, 2010 at the age of 87. Born February 7, 1923 in Brandtsville, Cumberland County, she was the daughter of the late Martin Engle Kraybill Sr. and Virgie Felker Lehman Garman Kraybill. She was married for forty-nine years to the late C. Arthur (Art) Wolgemuth who died in 1992. A former member of the Grantham Brethren in Christ Church, Amanda became a member of Cross Roads Brethren in Christ Church of Mount Joy after her marriage to Art in 1943.

A graduate of the former Messiah College Academy, she also attended Messiah College where she worked as an assistant librarian. After college, the former Bell Telephone Co., Harrisburg, employed her for four years in the revenue accounting department. She also was a receptionist and switchboard operator at Farnhurst State Hospital in Delaware. Later she worked extensively in the food business as a waitress, chef, chef-manager and food supervisor in a variety of well known venues, including her position as Dietician at Manheim Central School District and part owner of The Wolgemuth Inn, E-town, PA. After her semi-retirement, she worked as a beloved "nanny" for several fortunate families.
