Alcoa Closer to Installing Pollution Controls

Alcoa Warrick Operations is one step closer to being able to use tax-exempt bonds to pay for some of the $438 million cost to install pollution controls at its power plant.

The Warrick County Council on Thursday gave preliminary approval to issuing up to $30 million in tax-exempt bonds to help finance the project -- but only after attorney Mike Phillips assured council members that the county will not be financially liable for repaying any of the bonds.
