This year's theme is "Culturally Responsive Teaching and Learning." The main speaker will be renowned scholar and author Dr. Jawanza Kunjufu, president of the Chicago-based communications firm African American Images Inc. He is the co-author of the afrocentric/multicultural curriculum titled SETCLAE (Self-Esteem Through Culture Leads to Academic Excellence).
"Jawanza Kunjufu is a very dynamic speaker, somewhat controversial, but he definitely gets educators and administrators thinking," [Kaye Manson Jeter] said. "We're very excited to have him on the program."Internationally acclaimed artist and educator Willis "Bing" Davis, will present "Using Art in the Culturally Responsive Classroom."
