Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990

Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA) requires new and remodeled public accommodations and commercial buildings to be 'accessible and usable' to the physically or mentally handicapped. Existing buildings need to be audited in order to identify architectural barriers that have to be removed if it can be done easily and cost-effectively. Compliance with the ADA not only makes for good public relations, it can also help organizations avoid costly civil suits.

There is probably no entity in the community more visible than the rural electric cooperative. It seems that everything we do speaks loudly of who we are and what we are about. The public is constantly aware of the employees, the trucks, the board and how well they seem to be utilizing member resources and representing the cooperative.
