More than a year after it started, the war in Iraq has claimed its first casualties from the Hampton Roads naval community.

Two sailors killed Saturday off the coast of Iraq were part of a boarding team from the coastal patrol ship Firebolt, which is based at Little Creek Naval Amphibious Base in Virginia Beach. They died in an apparent suicide attack, when a vessel exploded as the boarding team approached to investigate.
