Summary


The Rev. Joseph Facura entered St. Matthew's Catholic Church on Palm Sunday, riding a donkey as more than 600 parishioners waved palms and flowers.

The procession served as a reminder of the journey Jesus is believed to have taken into Jerusalem five days before his crucifixion, when Jerusalem was then considered enemy territory, Facura said. The people, however, were so happy to see Jesus that they began cutting down palms - the only plentiful plant in the area - to wave.
