Summertime, and Soybeans Are All Over

You can call this summer of 2009 the Summer of Soybeans. That's because soybeans are almost the only thing you'll see as you ride country roads and major highways in Suffolk and Western Tidewater. There are full-season soybeans, tall and strong in the fields. And there are the late, double-crop soybeans, just beginning to appear atop the wheat stubble they were planted in this June.
