SUFFOLK - Ernest S. "Scotty" Roop, 38, passed away Sunday, June 21, 2009. He was born in Newport News, the son of Howard S. and Diane Roop. Scotty is survived by his parents; his daughter, Kelsey Wilson; two brothers, Terry Roop and his wife Canda and Michael Roop and his wife Mandy; his grandmother, Ethel Roop; his aunts, Barbara Hooker, Donna Nourse; uncle, Kenny Nourse; nieces, Abby Roop, Carmen Roop, Hayley Roop; nephews, Evan Roop and Levi Roop; as well as a host of other family members.
CHESAPEAKE - Wilbur "Red" Dozier, 86, passed away Sunday, June 21, 2009. He was born in Norfolk County, Aug. 16, 1922, the son of the late Thomas L. and Grace Nichols Dozier. He was a 1940 graduate of Great Bridge High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard in 1941, served in Operation Torch, and survived the sinking of his ship the USS Joseph Hewes.
