CHESAPEAKE - Elizabeth Lacher, 88, died Jan. 31, 2006, in Suffolk. A native of Hungary, she was a member of Gomley Chesed Congregation. She is survived by a son, Frank Lacher and wife Roni of Chesapeake; a sister, Madelaine Farkas of Caracas, Venezuela; and two grandchildren, Michelle and Michael Lacher. She was predeceased by her husband, Lester Lacher.
PORTSMOUTH - Darwin Watson Bales Sr., 76, passed away peacefully Feb. 1, 2006, in Louise Obici Memorial Hospital. He was born Jan. 29, 1930, in Jacksonville, Fla., and was the son of the late Frederick C. and Marie Clark Bales. He served his country proudly as a veteran of the United States Navy. NORFOLK - Marjorie A. Mullenix , 89 , died Feb. 2, 2006, in a local hospital. She was the widow of Lewis H. Mullenix. She was a native of New York City and was member of the Catholic church.
CHESAPEAKE - Denise Lorraine Mullins, 50, of the 1400 block of Glendale Ave., died Feb. 1, 2006, in a Portsmouth hospital. She was born in Cheltenham, England, and was the daughter of Geoff and Margret Whitman.
CHESAPEAKE - Rene Joseph Dubuc, 65, passed away Jan. 30, 2006. A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. today at South Norfolk Congregational Christian Church, 1030 Jackson Ave., Chesapeake. Interment will follow the service in Riverside Memorial Park.
VIRGINIA BEACH - Danny Wayne Beeler, 42, passed away unexpectedly at Sentara Leigh Hospital Feb. 1, 2006. Danny was born in Norfolk, moved to Ottumwa, Iowa as a child and attended Ottumwa schools. In 1982 he graduated from Ottumwa High. He married the lady of his dreams, Lynn Janik in May of 1989 in Virginia Beach and had resided there since. Danny was a loving husband, loved the outdoors, helped to rescue and give many animals a home, and never knew a stranger.
CHICAGO - June Wallace Johnson, 70, died Dec. 15, 2005. Born in New Bern, N.C., she was the widow of Richard A. Johnson Sr. and retired as a registered nurse after 20 years.
