Retired U.S. Marine Corps Col. James Arthur McGinn, 18-year resident of the Tidewater area, passed away July 21, 2004, in his home following a long battle with cancer. John Stanley Cottman was born Nov. 1, 1948, in Philadelphia, Pa. He succumbed to a long illness during the evening of July 13, 2004, in his home at age 55. John led what he considered to be a full and substantive life. An extended family member, he affectionately called, "Aunt Claudia," raised him from childhood and devoted herself to his happiness and future.

Marjorie Hundley Wootten, 88, of Farnham and formerly of Hampton, died July 18, 2004. She was the widow of Stafford S. Wootten and a retired teacher. Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law, Charlotte W. and H. Wilkes OBrien of Dearborn, Mich. and Carol W. and William A. Richard P. Woods

Richard Patrick Woods, 66, of the 4600 block of Berrywood Road, passed away on July 18, 2004, in San Diego, Calif. A native of Oswego, N.Y., Mr. Woods retired from the U.S. Navy in 1971. He was the founder and owner of Kempsville Family Skating Center and a member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral.

Lillian Staehr

Lillian Staehr, 87, formerly of North Bellmore, N.Y. died July 20, 2004. She is survived by daughters, Carol Diaczun and son-in-law Paul of Virginia Beach and Karen Nicki of Spring, Texas; a son, Paul of N. Bellmore, N.Y.; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
