Linda D. Mcdaniel ; Eugene F. Mcdaniel

Linda Faye Daniel McDaniel, 59, and Eugene Francis McDaniel, 64, of the 300 block of N. Hwy. 34, died April 5, 2004. Mrs. McDaniel, a native of Portsmouth, was the daughter of the late Claude Daniel and Willie Clyde Hutchins Daniel. She was a Methodist and a retired registered nurse having worked at various hospitals for more than 30 years.

Robert A. Nash

Robert A. Nash, 81, died in a local nursing home March 31, 2004. He was a native of Rhode Island and a self-employed carpenter before his retirement. Mr. Nash served in the U.S. Marine Corps for 11 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis T. and Francis Nash and his son, Michael Nash. Survivors include his son, Patrick Nash and his wife Theresa of Chesapeake; a stepdaughter, Delores Sturgeon; and his former wife, Marie Loomer.

Bill Joyce

Bill Joyce, 74, of the 1600 block of Waterway Circle, died April 5, 2004, in Sentara Norfolk General. A native of Georgia, he was the son of the late Raymond and Sydney OConner Joyce and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He retired as a quality control supervisor with the Ford Motor Company. Mr. Joyce was a member of Woodland Heights Baptist Church where he was a deacon and a member of the Berean Mens Bible Class. Alfred P. Fleury Jr., 49, of the 1400 block of Ivy Wood Road, and formerly of Constable, N.Y., died unexpectedly April 5, 2004, at the Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, following recent surgery. Born in Malone, N.Y., July 31, 1954, he was the son of Alfred P. and Eleanor L. LaPrad Fleury Sr. He graduated from Franklin Academy in Malone in 1972. Robert E. Benson Sr., 66, was called to glory and eternal rest April 1, 2004. His father and mother, James and Daisy Benson, preceded him in death. Those with the greatest pain are the ones left behind holding his memories: wife, Janie Benson; four sons, Robert Jr. (Patricia), Darnell Benson, Gregory L. (Avanti) Benson, Paul Benson and Christopher (Tredena) Benson; one daughter, Pamela Parker; three sisters, two brothers and a host of grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Lorraine C. Schimpf, 79, of Outer Cove, Newfoundland, formerly of Virginia Beach, peacefully passed away April 5, 2004. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward J. Schimpf. Mrs. Schimpf was an active member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church during her life in Virginia Beach, and recently moved back to her homeland to spend her last days.

Arleen J. Taylor, 52, of the 5800 block of Layton St., was called home to eternal rest April 4, 2004. She was born Sept. 13, 1952, in Chesapeake to Alfred B. Smith and the late Gladys Odell Smith. She is survived by her sister, Alice Rudiger and husband Edward of Norfolk; two nephews, James Rudiger and wife Jacqueline of Norfolk and Jack Rudiger and wife Pat of Virginia Beach; two nieces, Penny Roles and husband Robert and Nancy Hunt and husband Ted, all of Virginia Beach; and her dear friend, Ester Hurst of Norfolk.
