Review: Quest Unending by the Heartland Men's Chorus
Quest Unending by the Heartland Men's Chorus KANSAS CITY - I had never heard the singing of the Heartland Men's Chorus before receiving their CD. By turns inspirational, introspective and heartbreaking, Quest Unending takes its listener on a journey from the realities of every day life to, as is described in the liner notes, the place "where you belong."

MOVIE MINUTE REVIEW Brideshead Revisited Rated PG-13 for some sexual content **- Perhaps anyone who saw the Brideshead BBC series dramatization in 1982 would be disappointed with this version. Based on the novel by Evelyn Waugh, which I've never read and probably won't now, the drama is one of those "between wars" classics about England's transition from a strict, overt class society to a kinder, gentler, fuzzier class society.
Heart of America Men's Chorus Leaves Us Feelin' Groovy!
Hearing the music that was so closely associated with the civil rights and anti-war movements performed in a contemporary context, and seeing the passion in the chorus on the seminal We Shall Overcome provided a delightful end to the first half of the concert.

Taking It Off for Charity! Mr. Gay Kansas Strip-Off Returns Sept. 27
It's time for the Kansas State Championship in shaking booty, swiveling hips, and shucking duds - all to raise funds for the Regional AIDS Project (RAP) in Manhattan. The monies raised will help RAP clients pay for such things as electric bills, rent payments, medical bills, and transportation costs; none of the monies collected go for salaries or overhead expenses of RAP.
When the Kansas Legislature finally voted on a measure to outlaw Lawrence's domestic partner registry, a political tactic sent the bill back to a committee instead of asking legislators to outright vote to support unmarried partners registering with the city of Lawrence so they might be able to get health insurance from their employers.

Sept. 12-13 mark the dates for this year's fundraising show spectacular to benefit the music ministries of Metropolitan Community Church of Topeka. "This show will echo the successful efforts of last year's, in that it will feature great performers singing live on-stage to live instrumental accompaniment," David B. Pomeroy, Director of MCC's Music Ministry, said. "However, I Believe (in Broadway) will run two nights instead of one, will include a larger cast and offer a different theme."

If it was under the house, we could find it and fix it, and it would not involve tearing up the yard with shovels and hauling loads of freaking mud in order to find the aforementioned leak.
Married Alive! At Cabaret Oldtown Supplies Stellar Cast in Lackluster Show
Where I Love You, You 're Perfect, Now Change!, has memorable tunes, classic humor, and a steady balance between the zany and the heartfelt moments, Married Alive! falls completely flat. Having been a patron of this theatre for several years now, I've come to not only enjoy, but to expect the side-splitting, envelope-pushing originality that has earned Cabaret Oldtown the 'cult classic' label it so justly deserves.
