Year 2008

Vol. 21 Nbr. 4, April 2008

Small Town, Large Jubilation

All the other events are organized by local non-profits, such at the Sunrise Rotary Club (Duck Drop), United Methodist Church (Chicken BBQ), the Kiwanis Club's Habitat For Humanity tent, and the Lion's Club Beverage Tent (please note: not "beer," "beverage").

Bring 'Em to Ingham for Fair Fun

Edman, who previously served over two decades on the executive board of the Chelsea Community Fair, guides an organization with an average fair attendance of over 110,000 and an annual budget of nearly 1 million dollars.

Cultural Celebrations Bring Big Crowds and Big Bucks to College Town

A combination of a marketplace to purchase artwork and a free exhibition, the festival includes live music performances on two stages, hands-on arts and crafts activities for children and families and art exhibitions. Because artists' fees, staging, technical setup and advertising and promotion for the festival can add up to a hefty price, the museum fundraises pretty aggressively to cover the costs, while working with various Michigan State University departments that help with underwriting.

Festivities for Revitalization

The Capital Region Community Foundation, Michigan Council for the Arts and Cultural Affairs, Cooley Law School, Flagstar Bank, Message Makers and WLNZ and WMMQ radio stations. At the moment, however, the foundation is in search of volunteers to help at the event and assist the foundation in their mission to promote economic growth through the planning of cultural and community events, which all the Old Town festivals seem to have in common.
